U Dream Football Takes 15 Boys to Germany on Full Scholarship

In a first-of-its-kind initiative in India, U Dream Football backed by Ronnie Screwvala, will take 15 boys aged below 14 years to leading Bundesliga club, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, for a 6-year training program on full scholarships.  The boys were chosen after U Dream Football coaches scoured the length and breadth of the nation over a year during which they covered over 1,000 schools spread across 45 cities.

Let the Kids Play

While some parents undermine the importance of sports, other young elite athletes dismiss the value of education.  The truth, however, is that sport and education go hand-in-hand. An alert, intelligent mind driving a physically fit body is important for success in any field.

When it comes to grassroots football, specifically, education plays a key role in enabling young footballers to process various stimuli in real-time on the pitch and make better decisions. At the same time, experiences on the field – winning, losing, coming back from behind, working selflessly for the team, for example – help children develop character. In fact, most of life’s greatest lessons aren’t learned in classrooms, they’re borne of experience. And football is one such avenue that makes men and women who are mentally and physically stronger.

Blasters to Boost Grassroots Football in Kerala

Kerala, the home state of one of India’s finest ever footballers, IM Vijayan, will soon get a much-needed boost to its grassroots football set up. Kerala Blasters, Kerala’s own ISL franchise, supported by master blaster, Sachin Tendulkar, have announced the commencement of Kerala Blasters Football School (KBFS) from August 11, 2015 in Kochi.
