BFC Soccer Shield – U10 Winners Head Start Educational Academy

Head Start Educational Academy and Inventure Academy were crowned champions of the inaugural JSW Bengaluru FC Inter-School Soccer Shield in the Under-10 and Under-12 categories respectively. Held at the Bangalore Football Stadium on Sunday, the proceedings began with the U10 final where Head Start took on Greenwood High for top honours.
The first half of the Under-10 final began with both teams going toe-to-toe, but the deadlock was broken in the 11th minute when Abhinav Shanbaug finished off a well-constructed move for Greenwood. It was the first goal that Head Start conceded in the tournament. As the game wore on, both teams created chances without being able to apply the finishing touch. It looked as though the trophy would be going home with Greenwood. However, Riki Kamat from Head Start had other ideas. He found the equaliser in the dying minutes of the game to make it 1-1 and take the game to a shootout that ended 10-9 to give Head Start the Under-10 winner’s trophy.

The Under-12 final again featured Greenwood High going up against Inventure Academy. The teams fought hard and produced some good football but were thwarted by outstanding goalkeeping at both ends. Arnav Rakkhit opened the scoring for Inventure in the third minute before Greenwood threw caution to the wind in search of the equaliser. Playing excellent football, Greenwood produced good chances but found an inspired opponent in Inventure goalkeeper, Kabir Induja, who was also awarded Goalkeeper of the Tournament for his fantastic efforts. Despite giving everything, Greenwood would have to settle for the runners-up spot as Inventure Academy enjoyed their day in the spotlight after winning 1-0.
Congratulations to all the teams who participated in the tournament and, of course, to the winners! Well done to Bengaluru FC for hosting a good competition. We now look forward to discovering more young football stars from the Under-14 category!
