After Head Start Educational Academy and Inventure Academy clinched the U10 and U12 trophies a few days ago, it was time for Ryan International, Whitefield’s time in the sun as they claimed the inaugural Under-14 JSW Bengaluru FC Inter-School Soccer Shield. Pitted against Delhi Public School, North in the final, Ryan International’s defence held firm over the course of the game to secure a 2-0 victory.

With the action underway at Bangalore Football Stadium, Ryan International came flying out of the blocks, moving the ball around and creating good goal scoring opportunities. Their pressure would pay off soon as Shashwatha Bhowmick fired a brace early in the first half.  The first goal came in the 7th minute after Bhowmick beat the offside trap to slot past DPS keeper, Syed Hashir. Minutes later, DPS found themselves another goal down after Monish Prasad provided the assist for another Bhowmick goal, this time lobbing the keeper from the edge of the area.

DPS, stung after conceding two goals, came out fighting in the second half and threatened the Ryan International goal several times. Tournament top scorer, Raunaq Kapool from DPS, showcased his striker’s instinct but was thwarted repeatedly by a stubborn defence. Despite DPS’ best efforts, the game would end at 2-0 with Ryan International, Whitefield being crowned U14 champions.
